Super Bowl RVing

February 3rd, 2012

NFL football fans across country are fired up for the Super Bowl at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapois. Demand for RV parking spaces at the Super Bowl has increased so rapidly in recent years that this year the NFL has designated an additional two massive parking lot complexes exclusively for RV use. Premium RV parking in NFL lots within easy walking distance of the stadium and dozens of scheduled tailgate parties will set you back $900!!

Football fans from 27 states have already reserved their parking space near Lucas Oil Stadium for Super Bowl XLVI. Some are traveling as far as 1,855 miles away, while locals as close as a few miles away aren’t taking any chances come Super Bowl Sunday and have also locked in their parking.

Who will you be rooting for in Sunday’s historic Super Bowl Rematch? The New York Giants or New England Patriots? Visit the Park on Facebook HERE and tell us!

Happy Groundhogs Day

February 2nd, 2012

Happy Groundhogs Day!

If it is cloudy when a groundhog climbs from its burrow, then spring will come early. If it is sunny, the groundhog will see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks!

Groundhogs Day advocates claim that the Groundhogs prediction are accurate 75%-90% of the time. However, the National Climatic Data Center reports that overall accuracy of the predictions have a 39% rate.

Today, out of the 23 official groundhog celebrations, 20 groundhogs predicted an early Spring, while 3 predicted 6 more weeks of Winter. What are you hoping for, Spring or 6 more weeks of Winter?

Lake George Winter

January 20th, 2012

Although Lake George is primarily a Summer destination, there is still plenty to do after the warm weather leaves us. For those of you who live close or are thinking of getting away for a short weekend, click HERE to see all that the Adirondacks have to offer during the Winter season.

Bass Pond

January 19th, 2012

The recent weather has been cold enough to freeze the Bass Pond. The pond was stocked with Bass & Grass Carp in the fall and they will live there all Winter long. Before the Park opens in May, the pond will be stocked again with Minnows that serve as food for the fish that live in the pond year round.

Lake George still isn’t frozen but many locals are patiently waiting as the Lake George Ice Fishing Season is upon us and the Winter Carnival is rapidly approaching. What are your Winter hobbies?

Long Winter

January 16th, 2012

It’s always a strange feeling to be driving through the park this time of year. The sites are empty, just covered by a think layer of snow. No campfires, grills burning, or people at the pool. Just icy roads and 10 degree weather! Its times like these that make you miss Summer even more. We’ve already started counting until opening day, May 4th. Just 109 days left!!

What do you miss most about being at the Park during the long Winter months? Visit us on Facebook and share your thoughts.

French Mountain Sunshine

January 11th, 2012

We had our first snowfall in weeks last Thursday. The snow snuck around for a few days but disappeared fairly quick. However, Lake George is anticipating more to come in the next two nights. We hope its not too much! It’s hard to believe that it’s only a few short months until the gates open and another camping season is upon us!

We had to take a picture after this last snowfall. The sun was beginning to set and was shining right down on French Mountain. Has it been a snowy Winter where you live? Log into Facebook and tell us!

January 9th, 2012

To kick off 2012, the office staff at the Lake George RV Park donates their time to the Annual Winter Benefit for the Adirondack Theatre Festival. The benefit is held once a year, and 2012 will mark the 18th annual year in which the benefit has taken place.

The Adirondack Theatre Festival puts on this event to help raise awareness for the arts and Summer performances at the Charles Wood Theatre in Glens Falls, just miles from our RV park. The Winter Benefit will be held on Friday, January 13, and is a night that many look forward to all year round. The night includes a silent auction, live auction, food & drink and a Cabaret performance by Howie Michael Smith & Gary Adler.

To find out more about this special event, or if you’re looking for information to take in a show during your next visit, check out the Adirondack Theatre Festival Facebook Page and website.
