Fall Activities In The Lake George Area
Fall is a great time to visit the Lake George Region. There are plenty of events and activities to attend. It is a quieter time of year; as the hustle and bustle of the summer season is gone. Visitors during this time frame can see how locals enjoy our area and take in everything it has to offer.
On September 28th, there is a Sasquatch Calling Contest in Whitehall, with first place prizes in adult and kid’s categories. There will also be food vendors, souvenirs to purchase, live music, kids’ activities, and guest speakers. Maybe there will be a “sighting”, too! Click here to get more details on this event.
Another local favorite, is Taste of the North Country, which takes place on September 29th in Glens Falls from 11am-3pm. The event is put on by our local Kiwanis Club. Area restaurants set up tables and sell samples of their favorite menu items. Event goers purchase tickets for $1 each. Food samples usually range from $1 to $5. It is a great way to try new restaurants or visit old favorites. There is something for everyone! Kids will love the pumpkin painting station. There is live music and entertainment that is family friendly. The Chronicle will have a special edition with maps and entertainment schedules so you can plan your day. We will have copies of the Chronicle in our front lobby! It is an event that you will not regret attending! It is rain or shine, so if it is raining, plan accordingly! Every year, the town of Warrensburg participates in the “World’s Largest Garage Sale.” This year it starts on October 5th. There are true garage sales throughout the town, but if that isn’t your thing, there are also plenty of vendors along the main drag who are selling brand new items. There are food vendors all over the town, as well as the local restaurants serving up their favorite menu items. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. This event is outside, and there will be a lot of walking involved. Who knows, maybe you could end up with a priceless antique? For more information please click here.
If garage sales aren’t your thing, the Heritage, Harvest and Horse Festival is taking place the same weekend in Ticonderoga from 9:30am – 5:00pm. This festival demonstrates the importance of horses and other working animals throughout history with demonstrations of the roles they played. There will be a farmers market where you can purchase fresh local produce as well. They will have food and drink vendors and a chance to meet friendly animals. The kids will enjoy the 6-acre Heroic Corn Maze, too! For more information on this great event click here.
