FAQs About Reservations, Tents, Pets & More

What is the significance of your 10/10*/10 rating from the campground inspectors at Good Sam Travel Guide (Previously Woodall’s and TrailerLife)?

We are proud to be one of the few campgrounds in the United States to have met the newest rating criteria. Recently Ann Emerson Vice President and Publisher at Good Sam RV Travel Guide provided the following statement, “Lake George RV Park is one of just 101 campgrounds to achieve our highest and most coveted rating in the Good Sam RV Travel Guide and Campground Directory. Achieving our 10/10*/10 rating requires hard work, investment and attention to detail. We know that these ratings are not easy to attain and applaud Lake George’s RV Park’s efforts for achieving our highest rating. And we appreciate all that they do to provide exceptional quality and a first-rate experience to the camping public.”

The purpose of these rating systems is comparable to that of a star or diamond rating scale for hotels and restaurants. It provides guidance for the consumer to help in their decision process in choosing a RV park that is a good fit for them.

How far in advance should I make a reservation for an RV site?

We recommend making a reservation at least 8 weeks prior to your arrival date (16 weeks for holiday weekends: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Americade Week, and Columbus Day). However, we encourage guests to check availability with the Lake George RV Park even if your lead time is less than this. We begin taking phone, mail, and Internet reservations for the following calendar year beginning on October 1st.

Will my reservation request guarantee a specific RV campsite?

A confirmed campsite reservation, with deposit, guarantees an RV campsite for the dates specified at the time your reservation is made, but not for a specific campsite. We do encourage early reservations and requests for specific campsites, campsite areas, our On Site RV Rentals, or locations related to amenity preferences. We assign our campsites just prior to arrival, based on your requests and the date that your request and deposit was received. For a full explanation of our site assignment policy.

Why don’t you confirm specific campsites?

It is our goal to provide you with an RV campsite that meets your expectations. Due to the volume of reservations received and the frequent changes in reservation status that occur after a reservation is made, this policy enables us to meet a higher rate of satisfaction with our guests than if specific RV campsites were guaranteed in advance.

For example, if a reservation was confirmed for a specific campsite in January, and subsequently canceled 2 days prior to the scheduled date of arrival, it would be impossible for us to provide that campsite to a guest that has already been told it was not available in January. Under our policy, an RV campsite is assigned just prior to your date of arrival; this assures that your first requests are always considered. At that time, if we are unable to meet your first request we attempt to honor a second or third request you may have. Overall, this policy assures a higher level of satisfaction for the majority of our guests.

Do you allow tent camping?

As we are an RV Park, we do not allow tent camping on our sites. However, you may pitch one tent on your site in addition to your RV, provided this tent is for sleeping purposes only.  Tents are never allowed on On Site RV Rental sites.

What do you consider an RV?

Our definition of an RV (Recreational Vehicle) is a camping unit designed for road travel that is equipped with factory installed beds and at least two  factory land-to-vehicle service connections (electric, water, or sewer) with electric being one of the two. They also must contain an RVIA certification sticker. For example, a travel trailer, fifth wheel, RV motor home, motor coach, custom private bus, folding camper/pop-up, truck (pickup) camper and camper van are considered to be an RV.

Any type of conversion trailers such as but not limited to: conversion utility trailers, conversion  buses, conversion  school buses, conversion storage containers, conversion box cars and conversion vans are not permitted. Tiny homes, box cars, storage cars or containers, regular school buses or non RVIA buses are also not permitted.

Management reserves the right to add to this list at any time.

A mini-van is not considered a camper van unless it meets the above criteria. In addition, we do not allow boats with cabins and hookups, to be used as RVs. If you do not have an RV as listed above, consider staying in one of our On Site RV rentals, a smart alternative to Lake George hotels.

I have a large family. How many people can you have on one of your RV campsites?

In fairness to all of our Lake George guests, we limit the number of people on each site to a maximum of 8. This number includes your original party and any visitors you may have.

Where does your complimentary trolley shuttle stop and how often?

Currently, our trolley shuttle operates daily during the Lake George RV Park’s summer season and on Saturdays Only(beginning on Memorial Day Weekend) in the Spring and Fall (including Sundays on Memorial Day and Columbus Day weekends).

Our trolley makes its rounds to all of our 13 In-Park stops, each conveniently located near campsite and recreation areas. In addition, we make one Out-of-Park stop at the nearby outlet shopping centers. This trolley stop is conveniently located in the center of over 100 outlet stores and restaurants in Lake George. From the outlet center, you may connect with a municipal trolley that shuttles to other area attractions such as The Great Escape Amusement Park, Lake George Village and the City of Glens Falls for a nominal fee.

The Lake George RV Park trolley makes trips around the Park every 20-30 minutes and to the Outlet Center once per hour during the day and evening. Exact starting and ending times vary.  Be sure to download our free App which has a “Trolley Tracker” feature where you can observe our Trolley’s real time progress.

What is your pet policy?

We are a pet friendly resort. There are no additional fees for pets. Please bring a copy of your pet’s vaccination records, keep them leashed at all times and do not leave them unattended. Proper curbing and cleaning up after your pets is also required. Don’t forget about Charlie’s Bark Park, available to all camping guests.

Do you have seasonal sites?

Unfortunately, we are not currently offering any new seasonal campsites.

Why does your base rate include only 2 people and not 4?

As an all-inclusive resort, our primary goal is to set pricing policies that are fair to all guests that stay with us. Since a family can range in size from 2 people to 8 people, we have set our minimum nightly rate at the smallest family unit. While you may be paying a higher rate for a larger family, the larger a family is, a greater number of resources are expended at the park to serve the needs of these guests. In addition, because our park is all-inclusive, your daily site fee includes access to a generous number of daily services and amenities that do not require any additional fees to use.

Our goal is to make our rate structure as simple and as fair as possible. Please keep in mind that we offer special value discount rates at specific times during our season: view for our rates calendar. While limited services and facilities may be offered during these discounted days, families wishing to experience Lake George RV Park at the most affordable rates should consider visiting us at these times.

Something has come up… what is your cancellation policy?

We have one of the friendliest cancellation policies in our industry. As with any business, cancellations are unfortunate for the guest as well as the campground, so we have designed our policies to be as fair as possible to both.

  • For non-holiday RV campsites: Full refunds less a $10 service charge if canceled 48 hours before arrival date. No refunds if canceled less than 48 hours before arrival.
  • For holiday (including Americade week) RV campsites: Full refunds less a $10 service charge if canceled two weeks(14 days) before arrival date. No refunds if canceled less than two weeks before arrival.
  • For our on-site RV rentals: If the cancellation is received at least 30 days before arrival date – full refund less $15; at least 21 days before arrival date – 75% of deposit will be refunded; at least 14 days before arrival date – 50% of deposit will be refunded; less than 14 days before arrival date – no refund.

No exceptions will be made to this cancellation policy. No refunds or credits for early departure.

Can I bring my own firewood?

Our RV Park does allow campers to bring in their own firewood from outside the Park. However, please be aware that the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation has stated that is illegal to bring untreated firewood into NYS, and it is illegal to transport untreated firewood more than 50 miles from its source.
