When coming to visit the Lake George RV Park in the fall there are plenty of fall activities to partake in.
Apple picking: There are numerous orchards in the area to visit and either pick your own apples or stop by the barn and grab a pre-picked bag. Some area favorites are Hick’s Orchard in Granville, NY or McWhorter’s Orchard in Argyle, NY. Both are a great way to spend a fall day! And make sure to leave room for the fresh apple cider and homemade cider donuts!
Adirondack Nationals Car Show: September 5th through September 8th. Car Show Weekend, as the locals call it, is a great chance to see the best of the best of the older model cars. Car enthusiasts of all ages venture up to Lake George and cruise up and down Canada St admiring the range of vehicles on display. The Fort William Henry does have cars on display on their property, as well. It is a loud and fun weekend that is sure to bring back memories of years past.
French and Indian War Encampment and Reenactment: September 13th through September 15th, The Fort William Henry will be demonstrating the 264th Battle of Lake George and the 260th Amherst Campaign to Fort Carillon. There will be demonstrations of what camp life was like, the military drill and tactical exercises as well as 18th Century crafters and skirmishes. Our local area is steeped in French and Indian War history. This weekend event is a great way to learn about how important this area was to the war and a must for any history buff.
47th Annual Adirondack Balloon Festival: September 19th to the 22nd is Balloon Festival weekend in the Lake George Area. There are events every day for balloon lovers to enjoy. Early risers can watch the sun come up from the airport while waiting for the balloons to go up. There is always a charity breakfast in the hangar at the airport that never disappoints and is a great way to keep warm while waiting for lift off. There are evening flights as well, for those who would rather go later in the day. No matter the time of day, this event is sure to delight family members of all ages! You may be lucky enough to help the balloon pilots spread out their balloons to get ready for inflation!
