The Lake George RV Park has always been a huge supporter of the arts. It is not a coincidence that our park hosts its own professional performing arts theater, the French Mountain Playhouse, where free family shows are offered 5 nights per week for camping guests all summer long. We believe that good entertainment enhances our quality of life and makes for extra memorable camping experiences.
Back in 1994, the Lake George RV Park was privileged to host the inaugural season of the Adirondack Theatre Festival (ATF) (link to atfestival.org), a professional non-for-profit summer theater company dedicated to the development and nourishment of contemporary musicals and plays. The popularity of ATF shows grew so quickly in its early years, the company moved to facilities in nearby downtown Glens Falls, to a larger space, so it could spread its wings. Sixteen years later, thousand of theatergoers continue to fill the seats at ATF’s production each summer.
Lake George RV Park’s support of ATF continues. In addition to being the show sponsor for the current production of Brush the Summer By, this show features native white birch trees harvested from the private forest lands of the park. The LGRVP trees beautifully frame the set for this wonderful comedy/drama. Set in the Adirondacks, Brush the Summer By brings together a reserved divorcee from Maryland on a leaf-peeping trip and a local bartender who exposes her to nature, late love and more. With equal parts comedy and drama, playwright Hal Corley explores the joys and dangers of living in the moment and the challenges and rewards of forgiveness. (Contains adult themes and brief partial nudity.) Adults wishing to add a evening of great theatre to their vacation week in Lake George should plan to take in Brush the Summer By. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by – Brush performances continue July 10, and July 14 -17.
