Nature’s Art With The Hyde Collection

Every Wednesday through August 25 at 10am families are invited to create handcrafted mementos of their summer vacations with representatives from of local, professional art museum, The Hyde Collection. New project themes offered each week. Topics may include: Nature’s Landscape – capture memories of the Lake George region by drawing a landscape; Nature’s Animals – illustrate Adirondack wildlife while learning to use artist scratchboard; and Nature’s Photos – develop a keepsake image of objects found in nature by using photo-sensitive paper and light. All Nature’s Art workshops are designed for children ages six and older with an adult chaperone. Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, and grandparents are welcome to participate in this interactive family activity.  

 Art lovers will want to make extra time for a trip to The Hyde Collection, only 3 miles south in nearby Glens Falls.  Here you will find an amazing collection of Western Art that once belonged to Louis and Charlotte Hyde who acquired many valuable and priceless art during the their lifetimes.  The permanent collection at the Hyde House consists of close to 3,000 works of art from some of the world’s most famous and influential artists including Botticelli, El Greco, Raphael, Rembrandt, and Rubens.
